Stellantis Investor Day 2025. Chaotic? Maybe. Productive? Absolutely. Amidst the corporate shuffling Alfa Romeo dropped two hints about its future. A new C-segment SUV and a mysterious limited-edition project called Bottega Fuoriserie.
Both sat under covers. We got nothing but shadows and guesses. Then things got interesting. A generic mock-up of an Alfa SUV appeared on screen. Why? It’s part of the STLA One platform rollout. That architecture will support everything from a tiny Peugeot 208 to large D-segment beasts.
The Tonale exists today. It got a refresh. It’s fine. But the new kid could replace it within twelve months. Emanuele Cappellano. Europe’s COO. He didn’t sugarcoat it.
In the coming year Alfa Romeo will fully benefit from our global assets including the STLA One.
Translation. The old ways are dying. The new tech is coming. Ned Curic backed him up. He’s in charge of engineering. STLA One is multi-energy. Meaning hybrid. Meaning electric. No wasted space for one over the other. Just flexibility.
Think cell-to-body. Batteries baked right into the chassis. Stiffer cars. Cheaper production. Why build a box for the box when the box is part of the house?
Alfa doesn’t do budget. It does premium. So expect all the bells and whistles. STLA Brain. One computer. It controls the engine. The suspension. The screens. Everything. No fragmented ECUs fighting for control. Then there’s the Smartcockpit. Voice commands. Touchscreens. It’s bespoke. Not the same code you’ll see in your Citroen. It should look Italian.
Steer-by-wire? Likely. Peugeot teased it in that Polygon concept car. Alfas demand handling. Electric steering allows tuning you can’t get from mechanical linkages. They’ll dial it in to feel right. To feel like Alfa.
Then the other covered car. Bottega Fuoriserie. Sounds fancy because it is. Alfa and Maserati engineers join forces for halo cars. Think 33 Stradale. Think MCXtrema. Limited runs. High price. Low availability. But this new silhouette looks different. Practical. High hood line. Hatchback rear. Maybe a crossover for the ultra-wealthy? We won’t know for sure. Not yet. A year from now maybe.
Want something now? Forget the hype. Look at the Junior Electric. Auto Express says you can save £1,200 if you buy through them. It’s a thing. A small thing. An Italian thing.
Sell your current junk instead? The site claims 5,500 Dealers bid for it. Sounds efficient. Until you try.
