Polestar 4 vs. Chevy Bolt: The Price Gap Has Disappeared

Polestar is leaving. Or rather, being kicked out. A change in federal regulations regarding connected car services hit China-manufactured vehicles hard last week. The U.S. banned them.

So here we are. Fire sale mode.

Polestar’s exit isn’t graceful. It’s a clearance bin event.

The numbers are weird now. You can grab a Polestar 4 for up to $25,000 off sticker price. Let’s do the math. Base rear-wheel-drive model started at $57,800. Take twenty-five grand off. You’re left with $32,800.

Stop for a second. That price beats a 2027 Chevy Bolt RS by $195. Yes. The “luxury” Scandinavian SUV costs less than the budget grocery-getter.

Want all-wheel drive? Pay $39,300 for the dual-motor Polestar 4.

The Polestar 3 isn’t immune. It gets $23,000 in rebates. That brings the Long Range Dual Motor from $74,80 down to $51,800. No options. Just the base.

Cash isn’t the only way

Can’t pay cash? Fine. There are deals for leases and financing too.

Polestar 4 leases offer up to $19,000 in lease cash. That drops the monthly payment to $399 for 39 months on a base model. Crazy, right? There’s also a 0% financing offer for 60 months on the 4, combined with an $18,0oo discount.

Is this too good to be true? Probably. But it’s real right now.

The elephant in the garage

Taking the plunge means ignoring the future. At least, the immediate one.

Service? Maintenance? Warranty? Nobody knows exactly how that works once Polestar shuts the door. The company says support continues. That’s what they’re saying. Maybe Volvo’s dealers pick up the slack. We don’t have specifics yet.

Bet on the deal, not the dealership network.

Inventory is what it is. You aren’t picking a paint code. You aren’t choosing leather trim. You’re grabbing whatever gray car sits on the lot.

Most of them are gray anyway. So maybe you aren’t missing much.

Just move fast. The window is closing. And not just for Polestar. For your budget, maybe it’s finally opening wide.
