Polestar is making a significant push to capture market share in the competitive electric vehicle (EV) landscape. By offering substantial discounts—reaching as high as $22,250 for certain buyers—the premium EV brand is specifically targeting Tesla owners and luxury car drivers to encourage a brand switch.

Deep Discounts on the Polestar 3

The most aggressive pricing is currently directed at the 2025 Polestar 3. To move remaining inventory of this model, Polestar has introduced a tiered incentive structure available until April 30.

For the Polestar 3, buyers can stack several different savings:
Clean Vehicle Incentive: An $18,000 discount on purchases.
Tesla Conquest Bonus: An additional $3,000 for current Tesla owners (applicable to both purchases and leases).
Polestar Loyalty Bonus: $3,000 for existing Polestar owners.
Luxury Brand Conquest: $1,000 for owners of BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, or Cadillac models.
Costco Membership Perk: An extra $1,000 to $1,250 discount for Costco members.

Impact on Pricing:
These incentives significantly lower the barrier to entry for the Polestar 3. The base model can now be acquired for under $50,000, while higher-trim models, such as the Long Range Dual Motor with the Performance Package, are priced below $60,000.

Incentives for the 2026 Polestar 4

While the Polestar 3 offers the deepest cuts, Polestar is also providing incentives for the newer 2026 Polestar 4 to bolster its lineup:
$10,000 Clean Vehicle Incentive.
$4,000 Conquest Bonus for Tesla owners.
$3,000 Loyalty Bonus for existing Polestar owners.
$1,000 Conquest Bonus for owners of premium brands (BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, or Cadillac).

Context: The Battle for EV Market Share

This aggressive pricing strategy highlights a broader trend in the automotive industry: the fight to break Tesla’s dominance. Currently, Tesla holds a massive lead in the U.S., accounting for approximately 46% of all EV sales last year.

As the market matures, manufacturers are moving away from general brand awareness and toward “conquest” strategies—specifically targeting the customers of their direct competitors. By offering high-value bonuses to Tesla and luxury ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) owners, Polestar is attempting to position itself as a more accessible, yet equally premium, alternative.

However, buyers should note a technical distinction: the 2025 Polestar 3 utilizes a 400-volt electrical architecture, which is standard but less advanced than the 800-volt systems found in many newer high-performance EVs that allow for faster charging speeds.

Summary: Polestar is utilizing massive, stackable discounts to lure drivers away from Tesla and established luxury brands, making its premium electric SUVs significantly more affordable through the end of April.
