Nissan Revamps its Popular Pathfinder SUV for 2026

0

Nissan is giving one of its key family vehicles a refresh: the three-row Pathfinder SUV will hit dealerships in 2026 with a slew of subtle but important upgrades. This follows a string of updates across Nissan’s US lineup, from electric cars to compact SUVs and sedans. While not dramatically different in appearance from its predecessor, the 2026 Pathfinder boasts significant improvements to technology and interior refinement, aiming to keep it competitive in the ever-evolving SUV market.

The most noticeable change is at the front end, where a revised fascia replaces the outgoing model’s silver grille surround with a wider, sleeker design featuring smaller inserts. This echoes the styling seen on newer Nissan models like the Kicks and Murano, giving the Pathfinder a more cohesive look across the brand’s lineup. The grille extends further into the bumper corners and dips below the headlights, contributing to an overall sleekness.

New exterior color options—including Baltic Teal—and new black roof rails (on SL and Platinum trims) add subtle visual touches. However, it’s inside the cabin where the 2026 Pathfinder truly shines. Every model now comes standard with a large 12.3-inch touchscreen boasting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Stepping up to the SL trim or higher unlocks a matching 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, replacing traditional gauges for a more modern driving experience.

Nissan has also upgraded its wireless charging system: it now boasts a more efficient cooling setup, magnetic phone alignment, and increased charging output—jumping from 5 watts to 15 watts. Higher trims (Rock Creek, SL, and Platinum) benefit from a high-definition overhead camera, while the “invisible hood” feature returns for off-road models like the Rock Creek. This useful system allows drivers to essentially see through the hood and engine bay for improved visibility when navigating challenging trails.

Under the hood, the 2026 Pathfinder sticks with last year’s familiar 3.5-liter V6 engine generating 284 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission (available across trims, standard on the Rock Creek). Towing capacity remains consistent at 3,500 pounds for base models and up to 6,000 pounds when properly equipped on higher trims like the Rock Creek, Platinum, SV, and SL.

Nissan will officially unveil the redesigned Pathfinder later this month at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Pricing details are still under wraps, but considering the 2025 model starts at $37,895 (including destination), expect a modest increase for the updated 2026 version.
