Mahindra has unveiled a bolder version of its BE6 electric SUV, dubbed the Formula E Edition. Released a year after the initial debut, this special edition steps beyond cosmetic tweaks, featuring substantial design changes that give it a more rugged, off-road aesthetic.
Beyond Badges: Design Changes That Matter
Unlike typical special editions which often limit updates to colors and wheels, Mahindra has reshaped key body panels. The BE6 Formula E Edition boasts a redesigned front bumper with circular LED headlights and aggressive detailing. A prominent skid plate and extensive dark cladding give it a distinctly rally-inspired look, leaning more towards Dakar-ready than Formula E sleek.
The rear receives similar treatment with a revised bumper and a double-spoiler setup. Vertical LED taillights have been streamlined for a cleaner appearance. The SUV is available with new 20-inch alloy wheels (with the standard 19-inch set as an option) and features racing-inspired graphics on the glass roof and pillars, contrasted against four available colors: Everest White, Firestorm Orange, Tango Red, and Stealth Black.
Inside the Cockpit: Racing Touches and Premium Features
The interior combines black upholstery with Firestorm Orange accents, along with FIA-branded seat belts and a commemorative plaque. The Formula E logo is integrated into the dashboard, and a custom startup animation enhances the theme. Beyond branding, the BE6 Formula E Edition comes standard with a digital cockpit, dual wireless charging, a Harman Kardon audio system, and a comprehensive ADAS suite.
Performance Specs and Availability
The Formula E Edition maintains the performance of the high-spec BE6 model. A rear-mounted electric motor delivers 282 hp (210 kW / 286 PS) and 380 Nm (280.3 lb-ft) of torque, propelling the SUV from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.7 seconds, with a top speed of 202 km/h (126 mph). The 79 kWh battery provides an estimated real-world range of 500 km (311 miles).
The top-tier FE3 trim includes adaptive suspension as standard, offering the most refined driving experience. Pricing starts at ₹23.69 lakh ($26,500) for the FE2 and ₹24.49 lakh ($27,400) for the FE3. Unlike the limited-run Batman Edition, the Formula E Edition will be widely available in India, with orders opening on January 14 and first deliveries expected by February 14, 2026.
Even for the Youngest Fans
Mahindra is also launching a BE6 Formula E Ride-On toddler car in April 2026, priced at ₹18,000 ($200), extending the brand’s reach to younger enthusiasts.
The BE6 Formula E Edition represents a unique approach to special editions, blending motorsport aesthetics with off-road styling. This SUV stands out not just for its branding but for its substantive design changes, making it a compelling option for those seeking an electric vehicle with both performance and visual impact.
