Lamborghini’s design ethos isn’t an outsourced function; it is the core of the brand. As the Italian automaker navigates electrification and a growing model line-up, the in-house Centro Stile remains crucial. The new Temerario – a compact hybrid positioned as the more agile counterpart to the V12 Revuelto – exemplifies this commitment.

A Design Philosophy: Beyond Heritage

Lamborghini’s Head of Design, Mitja Borkert, emphasizes the brand’s position as the “epicentre of super sports car design.” The Temerario isn’t intended as a successor or a shadow, but as a distinct statement: sharper, more rebellious, yet unmistakably Lamborghini. This means balancing engineering demands (safety, emissions, electrification) with the brand’s aggressive aesthetic.

The key is coexistence. The Revuelto and Temerario are designed to complement each other, not compete. The Temerario is 270mm shorter, creating a noticeably different visual and dynamic profile. Despite this reduction in size, the hybrid powertrain necessitated a 40mm longer wheelbase for optimal balance. Interior space has also increased, providing an additional 24mm of headroom to accommodate drivers wearing helmets.

Aerodynamics Integrated with Aesthetics

Lamborghini’s design language centers around recognizable silhouettes – a cab-forward stance, sharply inclined side windows, and muscular rear haunches. The Temerario elevates this by integrating aerodynamic function directly into its aesthetic.

The signature Y-shaped daytime running lights are retained, but the Temerario introduces a hexagonal motif, not just as a stylistic choice, but as an integrated air intake. These sculpted openings channel airflow to the radiators, merging lighting with aerodynamic performance. The rear features an Omega-like graphic housing hexagonal lights, creating a dramatic short-tail design that exposes mechanical components.

Borkert draws inspiration from motorcycle design, particularly Ducati, evident in the cars’ athletic, technical surfacing. The focus is on wrapping technical components in sculpted musculature rather than relying on purely aggressive lines.

Evolution of a Legacy

The Temerario builds on Lamborghini’s design history. The Gallardo’s clean shapes and bold shoulders set the foundation, while the Huracán added sharper tension and more dramatic surfacing. The Temerario advances these principles into the hybrid era, retaining recognizable Lamborghini shapes while introducing a distinct new design language.

The Alleggerita package – with extensive carbon fiber usage – further enhances this evolution, offering both aggressive track-ready aesthetics and reduced weight. Personalization remains central, with over 400 colors and bespoke liveries available from launch.

The Driver-Focused Interior

Inside, the design mantra is “Feel Like a Pilot.” The dashboard is lightweight, featuring iconic Y shapes and hexagons. Lamborghini retains design cues like the start-stop flip cover, evoking a “weapons hot” button in a fighter jet. The rotary driving mode selector is motorsport-inspired, and digital displays allow seamless content sharing between driver and passenger.

Despite the focus on performance, practicality hasn’t been ignored: the Temerario offers space for four carry-on bags, increased headroom, and more storage.

Racing DNA

Centro Stile collaborates closely with Lamborghini’s Squadra Corse racing division to ensure that design isn’t just expressive but also functional. The GT3 and Super Trofeo variants retain the hexagonal identity and Italian tricolore cues while delivering maximum competitiveness.

The Temerario represents Lamborghini’s hybrid design revolution without compromising its core identity. The Revuelto embodies the V12 legacy, while the Temerario pushes agility, intensity, and next-generation engagement.
