Donkervoort has unveiled its most powerful model to date: the P24 RS. This new, stripped-down sports car boasts up to 600bhp from a reworked Ford V6 engine, making it the firm’s quickest and most aggressive offering in its nearly 50-year history.

A Return to Ford Power

For the first time in over two decades, Donkervoort is using a Ford engine. The P24 RS features a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 originally found in the Ford GT. The Dutch firm previously relied on Audi’s five-cylinder engines, but this move represents a return to its roots, while dramatically increasing performance.

The engine itself weighs under 170kg, which is critical given the P24 RS’s remarkably low 780kg weight. Donkervoort has further refined the engine with custom turbos, a new intercooler, optimized software, and 3D-printed exhaust extractors.

Tunable Power on Demand

The P24 RS comes in three power stages: 394bhp, 591bhp, and the top-spec 600bhp. The unique feature is its adjustable power output, controlled via a dial inside the cabin. This allows drivers to tailor performance to conditions, making the car usable both on the track and public roads.

Performance Figures

With maximum power selected, the P24 RS can accelerate from 0 to 124 mph in just 7.4 seconds. While a 0-62 mph time isn’t available, it’s expected to beat the F22’s 2.5-second sprint. Top speed is limited to 186 mph.

“Making the car as accessible as possible” was the key aim behind the adjustable power settings, according to CEO Denis Donkervoort. This design choice ensures the P24 RS can be driven safely and enjoyed in various environments.

Donkervoort may also offer a right-hand-drive version for the first time, but this is not yet confirmed. The P24 RS is the firm’s 20th model and represents a significant leap in performance, cementing its position as one of the most extreme road cars available.
