Bentley has unveiled the new Supersports, the most performance-oriented iteration of the Continental GT yet. This model marks the fourth time the Supersports nameplate has been used in the brand’s history, honoring a legacy that began a century ago with the first Bentley capable of exceeding 100 mph. The new Supersports distinguishes itself through rear-wheel drive, a sub-two-tonne weight, and a relentless focus on driving dynamics.
Performance and Engineering
The heart of the Supersports is a non-hybrid, twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine producing 657 bhp and 800 Nm of torque. Power is delivered through an eight-speed double-clutch gearbox exclusively to the rear wheels. This configuration enables a 0-62 mph sprint in 3.7 seconds, with a top speed of 192 mph. Beyond raw numbers, Bentley emphasizes improved handling and driver engagement as key priorities.
Standard features include carbon ceramic brakes, 22-inch lightweight forged wheels developed in collaboration with Manthey Racing, and a full-length titanium exhaust system by Akrapovič. Pirelli Trofeo RS tires are available for those seeking maximum grip.
Aerodynamic and Weight Reduction
The Supersports’ exterior is designed for functionality, maximizing downforce and minimizing weight. A new front bumper houses the largest front splitter ever fitted to a Bentley road car, directing cooling air to the engine and brakes. Carbon fiber dive planes, side sills, and a rear diffuser further enhance aerodynamic efficiency. A fixed rear wing completes the aggressive aesthetic.
To reduce weight, the roof panel has been replaced with carbon fiber, lowering the center of gravity without compromising structural rigidity.
Interior Focus
Inside, the Supersports features two new sports seats positioned lower in the cabin. The rear seats have been removed and replaced with a carbon fiber and leather shell, saving weight and reinforcing the car’s performance-focused intent.
A Return to Extreme Performance
Bentley Chairman and CEO Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser states that the new Supersports is more than just a high-performance car. It represents a return to Bentley’s roots, creating extreme vehicles that blend exceptional versatility with true driver engagement while remaining bespoke works of automotive art. The Supersports celebrates 100 years of the nameplate and signals Bentley’s commitment to daring designs.
While official pricing has not been announced, industry estimates suggest a starting price of around £400,000. The new Supersports is not just a luxury grand tourer; it’s a statement of intent, designed for those who demand both performance and exclusivity
