The Avatr 06T, a station wagon variant of the 06 sedan, has been unveiled in official production images, signaling its upcoming launch in Q2 2024. This model represents a key step in the expanded partnership between Avatr and Huawei, leveraging the latest Qiankun 2.0 technology. The 06T prioritizes both performance and practicality, bringing a more conventional design to the Avatr lineup while retaining cutting-edge tech.
Performance and Technical Specifications
The Avatr 06T will be available in both all-electric (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) configurations. The BEV version boasts an 89.33 kWh battery and offers two motor setups: a dual-motor rear-drive option and a high-performance tri-motor all-wheel-drive system.
The tri-motor setup delivers a staggering 955 horsepower (712 kW), combining a 210 kW front motor with dual 251 kW rear motors. This configuration achieves a CLTC range exceeding 740 km. The EREV variant utilizes a 1.5T engine with 115 kW peak power paired with a 45.06 kWh battery, providing 330 km of pure electric range.
Notably, the 06T measures 4940 mm in length, 1960 mm in width, and 1475 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2940 mm. It also supports ultra-fast 5C charging.
Design Evolution: Reintroducing the Rear Window
A significant design change from the Avatr 06 sedan is the return of a traditional rear windshield. The 06T incorporates a standard rear window and wiper, addressing visibility concerns raised by consumers regarding the sedan’s unconventional “no-rear-window” approach.
Other exterior features include functional luggage rails and the signature “watchtower” LiDAR pod. Door handles have also been updated to a semi-hidden design, likely in response to evolving Chinese safety regulations.
Huawei Integration: ADS 4.0 and Advanced Sensors
The 06T showcases the strength of the Huawei-Avatr partnership, featuring the latest Huawei ADS 4.0 autonomous driving system. This is powered by a new 192-line LiDAR sensor, extending effective detection range to 250 meters, a 20% improvement over previous generations.
Inside, the vehicle retains the 06 sedan’s immersive 35.4-inch windshield-based display and 15.6-inch HarmonySpace 5.0 central touchscreen. The wagon body style provides an additional 15 mm of headroom for rear passengers.
Market Positioning and Launch Timeline
Despite the wagon body style, the Avatr 06T maintains a low-slung performance stance, with a height of only 1475 mm. The reintroduction of the rear window signals a pragmatic shift towards greater consumer acceptance. The vehicle is slated for market launch in Q2 2024, timed around the May Day holiday.
