Ferrari has expanded its Amalfi lineup with the debut of the 2027 Amalfi Spider, a convertible variant of the already striking Amalfi coupe. This new model combines the coupe’s elegant design and powerful engine with the freedom of an open-top driving experience.
Retractable Roof and Design Details
The Amalfi Spider features a retractable soft top that can be lowered in just 13.5 seconds, even while traveling at speeds up to 37 mph. Ferrari engineered the roof to minimize intrusion on trunk space; when folded, it occupies only 8.7 inches, leaving 6.1 cubic feet available for luggage. With the roof up, storage expands to 9.0 cubic feet.
The exterior styling mirrors the coupe below the beltline, maintaining the vehicle’s sleek and muscular silhouette. The soft top is offered in six colors, with optional contrast stitching for a personalized touch. Ferrari also introduces two fabric options: a “tailor made” version with four color choices and a “technical” weave that creates a shimmering effect. A new paint color, Rosso Tramonto, further enhances the Spider’s aesthetic appeal.
Powertrain and Performance
Under the hood, the Amalfi Spider retains the same twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V-8 engine as the coupe, delivering 631 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque. This power is channeled through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission to the rear wheels. The Spider boasts a dry curb weight of 3430 pounds, approximately 200 pounds heavier than the coupe.
Despite the weight difference, the Amalfi Spider maintains the coupe’s impressive performance figures, accelerating to 62 mph in 3.3 seconds and reaching a top speed of 199 mph. Adaptive dampers and Ferrari’s new brake-by-wire system further refine the driving dynamics.
Interior and Technology
The interior remains consistent with the coupe, featuring a 10.3-inch central touchscreen, a 15.6-inch digital gauge cluster, and an 8.8-inch passenger display. Ferrari has reverted to physical buttons and dials on the steering wheel, following feedback on its previous haptic controls. Rear seats are present but primarily suited for storage rather than adult passengers.
A new integrated wind deflector can be deployed at speeds up to 106 mph to reduce turbulence when the roof is down, improving open-air comfort.
Availability and Pricing
Ferrari has not yet announced exact pricing or a firm release date for the Amalfi Spider in the United States, though it is expected to arrive before the end of the year. Given that the coupe starts at $266,810, the Spider is likely to exceed $300,000.
The introduction of the Amalfi Spider demonstrates Ferrari’s commitment to blending high-performance engineering with luxurious open-top driving experiences. The model’s combination of potent power, refined design, and advanced technology ensures it will appeal to drivers seeking both exhilaration and style.
